Requirements for Foundation courses will depend on a student's admission status as outlined in Admissions Requirements and as discussed below:

1. MBA Admissions Formula Score >1100

Under the MBA Admissions Formula Score students whose score is greater than 1100 may be exempt from taking Foundation-Level courses if a students has met course requirements.  Requirement may be met if a student possess an undergraduate degrees in business and received a grade of C or better in an undergraduate equivalent course AND received their undergraduate degree in the SIX years prior to filing their application. However, for those receiving an undergraduate degree in the six years prior to acceptance, courses to be used to meet Foundation-Level course requirements must have been taken no more than 10 years from date of admission to the M.B.A. program.  Additionally, if a student has taken equivalent graduate or undergraduate courses in the SIX years prior to filing their application it may be possible to waive Foundation-Level courses.

Prior to acceptance into the WCU MBA Program, students who have not satisfied the Foundation-Level courses may meet these requirements by taking comparable undergraduate courses at any accredited university or college (2 year or 4 year) or by taking comparable graduate-level courses at any accredited graduate school.

Once accepted into the WCU MBA Program, students must take Foundation-Level courses at the graduate level at WCU or at another approved institution (including approved online institutions).  There is no requirement that all Foundation-Level courses must be taken at the same school (e.g., all taken at WCU), rather students may choose to take courses at one or more schools as long as these schools are approved by WCU.

2. MBA Admissions Formula Score 1000-1100

ALL students whose MBA Admissions Formula Score falls between 1000 and 1100 must take ALL Foundation-level courses at WCU whether or not they have taken these previously.

Departments will offer waiver exams for Foundation-Level courses upon request. Students must receive a C grade or better in the waiver exam to receive exemption from a Foundation-Level course.

Students are permitted to take all WCU Foundation-Level courses before applying for program admission.  Additionally, grade in Foundation-Level course may be used to assess students previous GPA as part of the MBA admission evaluation.
