Students may enroll in the WCU MBA throughout the year and MBA applications are processed year-round. Our 10-Week terms start at four times in an academic year. Admission Requirements
Students with a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the United States or with equivalent preparation acquired in another country are eligible to apply for admission to a graduate program. Evaluation for admission to the WCU MBA is based the following requirements: MBA Admission Formula Score:
A significant portion of the criteria used to evaluate applicants for admission to the WCU MBA are: - Grade Point Average (GPA) for last 60 college credits - evaluated on a 4.0 scale
- Scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) - minimum overall score of 450
In general, admission to the WCU MBA will be determined using the following MBA Admission Formula Score: (GPA for last 60 credits x 200) + GMAT score > 1100 In addition to the criteria noted above, the Formula Score can be affected to a lesser degree by other factors including professional work experience, quality of previous educational experience and additional indicators of success. Additionally, students are expected to score in the 20th percentile or higher on the GMAT for both the verbal and quantitative portions of the test. Applicants possessing a Formula Score less than 1100 but greater or equal to 1000 may also be considered for admission to the WCU MBA through the MBA Pre-Qualifier Program. Students following this route must meet all requirements of the M.B.A. pre-qualifier program before being admitted into the M.B.A. program. To be considered for admission through the MBA Pre-Qualifier Program applicants must: - possess a Formula Score between 1000 and 1099
- complete ALL MBA Program Foundation courses
- attain a cumulative B+ (3.33) average for all Foundation courses
- achieve a minimum grade of B (3.0) or better in each Foundation course
In general, students are expected to complete all Foundation-level requirements prior to taking MBA-level courses. Permission must be received from the MBA Director for students wishing to take MBA-level courses before completing Foundation-level requirements. Application Requirements
Applicants must submit all undergraduate transcripts demonstrating quality performance at the undergraduate level; appropriate scores from the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT); an essay on career plans; a current resume; and three Letters of Recommendation (see this page for more details). Registration for MBA courses must be approved by the MBA Director. In addition to the TOEFL requirement of 550, international MBA applicants, upon acceptance and arrival on campus, will be interviewed by a representative of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Program for a review of their English language-speaking skills. For those students requiring additional study, a remedial program will be recommended and required as a part of their initial MBA studies. Students who have attended international institutions must have their transcripts evaluated through World Education Services and include this as part of their application submission. Degree Candidacy
For degree candidacy approval, students must maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 in all MBA courses, a 3.0 GPA in concentration courses, be fully matriculated, and have completed all foundation courses. Graduation Requirement

Entering students should have a working knowledge of basic mathematics and algebra. Must Apply Before Taking Third Core-level Course
Students who have not yet applied and been admitted to the MBA Program are limited to taking only one Core-level course per term and two Core-level courses in total. Additionally, the MBA Program limits which Core-level courses may be taken prior to admission. Orientation Program
Students admitted to the MBA program must attend an Orientation Program. The orientation is non-credit bearing (no cost to students). The orientation may be held over several days. While the orientation is non-credit bearing, students may be required to take part in skills and knowledge assessment activities. Currently the Orientation Program is held during the fall and spring terms. Since students may start the program at other times of the year, they may take up to two courses before attended the Orientation Program. However, Core-level course options available to students who have not been admitted will be limited by the MBA program. Laptop Computers
Students entering the MBA will be required to possess a laptop computer that will be brought to the classroom. The computer WILL NOT not be provided or serviced by the University. Students will be responsible for acquiring and servicing their computer. Computers will be expected to contain essential software applications and hardware configurations, such as basic business productivity software (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software) and wireless Internet access. Entering students should be comfortable using the Windows operating system and also basic applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and e-mail. The MBA Program does not expect students to be computer experts but rather exhibit a level of basic understanding that would be expected for a business professional. Also, students should be comfortable with accessing the Internet and using a web browser. Finally, it is strongly recommended that students have regular access to a computer and Internet access, preferably at home. If you have a question about what is basic knowledge please let us know.
